Treating Landfill Leachate Efficiently, Reliably, and Sustainably
LTS is a technology startup based out of Corvallis OR founded by a professor and two PhD students from Oregon State University. Our team has over 50 years of combined academic and industrial experience inventing, scaling up and successfully bringing technologies to market. LTS’s sustainable and efficient patent pending technology has been developed over the past few years and brought to market after rigorous testing of the technology performance at multiple scales. The modular technology is unaffected by environmental conditions and is designed to be installed and serviced at the landfill without the need for expensive leachate transport. Additionally, the LTS technology can efficiently handle fluctuating leachate volumes and inlet compositions of leachate without compromising the final effluent quality. The effluent from the LTS process can be used for landfill cover irrigation applications, surface irrigation, direct surface discharge under existing site NPDES permits or even upgraded to drinking water standards.
LTS recently completed construction of a mobile demonstration facility that can treat up to 1,000 gallons per day of landfill leachate. This mobile treatment unit has been approved for installation at a municipally owned wastewater recovery plant in Corvallis, OR.
LTS’s model to engage potential clients is to set up the mobile 1,000 GPD treatment skid at sites affected by high leachate generation rates and/or costs of hauling/treatment. LTS is willing to deliver the skid to a potential client, install and treat leachate for a period of one to two weeks to determine a per gallon cost based on the site-specific leachate quality and anticipated quantities.
LTS can efficiently handle fluctuating leachate volumes and characteristics of leachate without compromising the final effluent quality.
LTS will scale the technology up to account for the anticipated flows of the site. Standard treatment skid sizes will be available from 10,000 through 25,000 gpd in 20’ through 40’ shipping containers, respectively. The containers are modular to enable installation in parallel to match flows greater than 25,000 GPD.
LTS is actively looking to engage potential clients to demonstrate the efficacy of the technologies via the mobile demonstration unit.
